Chad Gable has already returned to WWE: POST Wrestling reported his comeback at the January 2026 Royal Rumble. Reports describe a full tear of his left rotator cuff and a biceps tendon repair, but the available sources do not confirm that he is currently training at WWE’s Performance Center.
When did Chad Gable return to WWE?
Gable returned at the Royal Rumble in January 2026, according to POST Wrestling’s June 12, 2026 report. An October 8, 2026 F4W report also describes him as having returned and notes that he won the Intercontinental Championship.
What injury did Chad Gable have?
Initial right-arm symptoms
POST Wrestling’s June 5, 2026 account says Gable’s injury history began after a live-event match with Gunther in the United Kingdom in October 2024. He initially had a right biceps injury that did not require surgery, but later experienced pain and strength problems. Imaging reportedly showed right-side tendinitis and a partial rotator cuff tear.
Left rotator cuff and biceps tendon surgery
The same account says imaging also found a full tear of Gable’s left rotator cuff that required surgery. In a later recovery episode, surgeon Jeffrey Dugas reportedly found additional damage to the biceps tendon near the shoulder and repaired it during the rotator cuff operation, as summarized by POST Wrestling.

What did Gable say aggravated the injury?
In the interview account published by F4W on October 8, 2026, Gable said a match with El Hijo del Vikingo at Worlds Collide aggravated his arm when it was posted against the ring apron. He said the Money in the Bank ladder match added further hard bumps. F4W quoted him describing how fragile he felt the next day, saying, “I don’t know that I’ve ever felt that level of fragility that I felt the next day, almost like any little thing I did, I was gonna just ruin myself, like super fragile.”
