This is a historical watchlist for Netflix’s U.S.-focused release week of Dec. 23–30, 2024—not a current-week guide. Its standout scripted arrival was Squid Game Season 2 on Dec. 26; Christmas Day brought two live NFL games, while Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Mad Max: Fury Road were listed for Dec. 30. Netflix’s schedule could vary by region, and the guide does not establish which titles remain available today.
The five picks below are a shortlist, not a ranked quality list. They span returning drama, post-apocalyptic action, a Greek mystery-romance, live sports and a monster-movie spectacle.

Five picks from Netflix’s Dec. 23–30, 2024 schedule
| Pick | Scheduled date | Format and appeal |
|---|---|---|
| Squid Game Season 2 | Dec. 26 | Returning Korean-language survival thriller with action, drama and mystery. |
| Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga | Dec. 30 | Post-apocalyptic feature film and prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road. |
| Maestro in Blue Season 3 | Dec. 28 | Final season of a Greek mystery-romance drama. |
| Chiefs vs. Steelers and Ravens vs. Texans | Dec. 25 | Two live NFL games, including a Beyoncé halftime performance at Chiefs–Steelers. |
| Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire | Dec. 23 | Franchise-scale monster-movie spectacle. |
The schedule and descriptions are from What’s on Netflix’s Dec. 23, 2024 weekly guide, which says its coverage primarily concerns the United States.
1. Squid Game Season 2 — Dec. 26
The week’s biggest returning scripted series brings back creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and Lee Jung-jae as Player 456 for another round of lethal games. Choose it if you want a continuing story built around high-stakes survival rather than a self-contained film.
#1 Best Overall
2. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga — Dec. 30
George Miller’s prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road follows Furiosa after her abduction and her encounters with Dementus. Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star. It is the pick for viewers after post-apocalyptic action and a feature-length story rather than a series.
3. Maestro in Blue Season 3 — Dec. 28
The guide identifies this as the Greek mystery-romance drama’s third and final season. Its premise begins with a musician arriving on a scenic island for a festival, then becoming entangled in romance and other people’s problems. It suits viewers looking for a relationship-centered mystery and a concluding season.

- Factory sealed DVD
4. Christmas Gameday — Dec. 25
The live-event option pairs Chiefs vs. Steelers with Ravens vs. Texans on Christmas Day. Beyoncé was scheduled for the Chiefs–Steelers halftime show, and the guide also mentions a live performance by Mariah Carey. Pick this over scripted viewing if the appeal is the combination of football and music unfolding live.
5. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire — Dec. 23
Listed alongside Godzilla vs. Kong, this entry rounds out the week with franchise spectacle. It is the most direct choice here for viewers who want a monster-movie feature rather than a thriller, romance or live event.

- Dec. 25: Kill ’em All 2, an action sequel, in addition to the two NFL games.
- Dec. 26: Sorgavaasal, alongside Squid Game Season 2.
- Dec. 27: Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year.

How to use this watchlist
The original weekly guide called the period comparatively quiet and singled out the NFL games and Squid Game Season 2 as the principal draws. There is no defensible quality ranking among these five picks: choose by format and mood—returning survival drama, action film, mystery-romance, live sports or monster spectacle. Release dates and availability were region-dependent, so the listed dates should not be assumed to apply outside the U.S.-focused schedule.
