Celebrity look-alikes are best treated as visual comparisons, not an official ranking or proof that two people are related. The examples below include reported mix-ups, celebrity comments, shared screen appearances and editorial comparisons; each has a different kind of evidence. The available sources support these 13 pairings, not a verified roster of exactly 31.
Celebrity look-alikes with documented mix-ups or comments
These comparisons have context beyond an editor or fan noticing a resemblance: someone involved described a mix-up, acknowledged the comparison or played along with it. That context makes the stories more concrete, but it does not make resemblance an objective fact.
Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly
Men’s Health reported in its 2018 celebrity-look-alike quiz that the actors, who are friends, had been confused for one another and appeared together in The Roommate. Their shared film appearance gives the comparison a playful on-screen context. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018.
Amy Adams and Isla Fisher
Both the 2018 Men’s Health quiz and The Independent’s 2025 roundup include this pair. The Independent notes that their eye colors differ and recounts Fisher using the resemblance in a family-card prank. The example is a reminder that a familiar overall impression can coexist with visible differences. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018; The Independent, 2025.

Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman
Both publications list the actors. The Independent recounts Knightley saying she had been mistaken for Portman. The resemblance also intersected with casting: Knightley played Sabe, a decoy for Portman’s Queen Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018; The Independent, 2025.
Will Ferrell and Chad Smith
The actor and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer have both appeared in look-alike roundups. The Independent recalls their 2014 Tonight Show appearance: dressed alike, they impersonated one another and faced off in a drum battle. The public performance made the comparison part of the joke, rather than simply leaving it to photographs. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018; The Independent, 2025.
Rank #2
Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran
Both roundups include the actor and musician. The Independent notes that Grint impersonated Sheeran in the “Lego House” music video and later on MTV. Those performances deliberately used the resemblance as an entertainment premise. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018; The Independent, 2025.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem
The Independent reports that Bardem addressed comparisons with Morgan in a 2024 Men’s Health video, saying he was pleased people thought they looked alike because he found Morgan handsome. The pair also appears in the 2018 Men’s Health quiz. This is a celebrity’s good-humored response, not a claim of identical features. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018; The Independent, 2025.
Zoe Saldaña and Thandiwe Newton
The Independent recounts Saldaña saying her mother confused her with Newton, joking in a 2019 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, “My mom still thinks I’m in Westworld.” It is a reported family mix-up, not evidence that viewers generally mistake the two. The Independent, 2025.
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard
The Independent recounts Chastain being mistaken for Howard by teenagers who recognized The Village. The anecdote captures how a particular role or moment of recognition can shape a mix-up; it does not establish that the actors are routinely confused. The Independent, 2025.
Bailee Madison and Maia Mitchell
The actors were cast as sisters on The Fosters. The Independent also notes Mitchell’s playful description of Madison as her “apparently long lost sister.” The casting and caption make this a comparison embraced in a shared fictional context. The Independent, 2025.
Lili Reinhart and Brittany Murphy
The Independent quotes Reinhart saying people tell her she looks like Murphy and that they think she is Murphy “reincarnated”; Reinhart also agreed that side-by-side pictures show a resemblance. The comment was reported from a 2017 BuzzFeed interview. It is Reinhart’s description of what others tell her, not a literal or factual claim about reincarnation. The Independent, 2025.

Daisy Edgar-Jones and Joseph Quinn
The Independent reports Edgar-Jones saying people had told her she looked like a female version of Quinn. Because this is an attributed comparison rather than a documented mistaken identity or broad consensus, it is best read as a personal, subjective observation. The Independent, 2025.

Jaime Pressly and Margot Robbie
Men’s Health included the actors in its September 2018 look-alike quiz, describing the resemblance as one fans had pointed out. The source presents an editorial and fan comparison, not a reported personal mix-up or a statement from either actor. Men’s Health, September 17, 2018.
Emma Mackey and Margot Robbie
The Independent reports that Robbie said she had long been told she looked like Sex Education actor Emma Mackey. In Barbie, director Greta Gerwig and Robbie leaned into the comparison by casting Mackey as a Barbie. The casting joke gives the resemblance a film-specific context; it does not establish that the two are interchangeable. The Independent, 2025.
Why resemblance changes from one comparison to another
A look-alike judgment depends on what is being compared. Hairstyle, makeup, age, lighting, expression and camera angle can make two faces seem more alike in one image than in another. A casting decision, a celebrity’s comment and a fan-made side-by-side comparison are different kinds of evidence; none creates a definitive or objectively ranked list.

Resemblance also does not establish kinship, identity or a reliable biometric match. A 2022 preprint by Christian Rathgeb, Daniel Fischer, Pawel Drozdowski and Christoph Busch reported an approximately 2.7% equal error rate for a proposed method distinguishing mated authentication attempts from doppelgängers in experiments using the HDA Doppelgänger and Look-Alike Face databases. That figure belongs to the paper’s specific method and test databases; it is not a real-world error rate for all face-recognition systems or a measure of celebrity similarity. Rathgeb et al., “Reliable Detection of Doppelgängers based on Deep Face Representations,” posted January 21, 2022.
