A writer credit is distinct from a performer or producer credit. For example, Apple Music’s composition-and-lyrics section lists Jordan Thorpe as a songwriter on “Up,” and Jorden Thorpe as a songwriter on “Bodak Yellow” and “Backin’ It Up.” Those examples illustrate the name variants and how a platform displays songwriting roles; they do not independently verify every title in the list above.
How to check an individual song’s rights information
BMI describes Songview as a searchable source for musical-work information, including songwriters, publishers, performers, alternate titles, and identifiers. Its checkmark indicates that participating societies agree on the displayed work information; it is not a statement of agreement by every rights organization. BMI said in information accessed in 2026 that the combined BMI, ASCAP, GMR, and SESAC Songview view contains nearly 40 million musical works.
