OD: Knock is a horror teaser from Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios, built around candlelight, unsettling sounds and an unseen threat. It offers a vivid glimpse of the project’s atmosphere, but not a clear account of its gameplay or story. As of October 8, 2026, Xbox has not listed a release date or OD-specific purchase details.
What is OD: Knock?
OD is an in-development project by Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios, announced on December 7, 2023. Hideo Kojima described it as an attempt to test the limits of fear and blur the boundaries between games and film. He also said the project would use Xbox Game Studios’ cloud gaming technology to pursue what he called “a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game – or rather, a new form of media.” Kojima Productions’ announcement
Jordan Peele is one of several storytellers involved, according to the announcement. It does not specify his exact creative duties or say that he worked specifically on the Knock teaser. The announced lead performers are Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier.
What does the Knock trailer show?
Presented at Kojima Productions’ 10th-anniversary event in September 2025, the teaser is mostly framed from a first-person perspective. TechRadar describes a character opening a door with a red card, entering a room and lighting candles on an altar. Knocking is followed by a creaking door, footsteps and whispering; the sequence ends with the character being grabbed from behind. Those are images and sounds in the teaser, not confirmation of a playable scene or the game’s full plot. TechRadar’s trailer report

PC Gamer described the footage as in-engine Unreal Engine 5 material and noted that Kojima reiterated the ambition to blur games and film without explaining how that will work in practice. Kojima also cautioned that the footage was “not a game about lighting candles,” a remark PC Gamer reported in the context of the teaser. PC Gamer’s report
The scene’s close perspective, long pauses and threatening sounds make the teaser unsettling, but it does not establish the game’s complete gameplay loop, controls, structure or premise. The earlier 2023 announcement introduced the project through its broad focus on fear and the games-film boundary; Knock gives that idea a more specific visual expression without confirming a separate mode or story.
