Spoilers for both credits scenes. Deadpool & Wolverine has two distinct end-credit moments: a Fox-era Marvel tribute montage that plays during the credits, followed by a short Johnny Storm scene after they finish. The montage is the heartfelt farewell; the final stinger is mainly a comic payoff, not a second emotional send-off or a conventional teaser.
What happens during the credits?
A retrospective montage plays alongside the credits, combining behind-the-scenes footage, shots from earlier Fox Marvel films, and related promotional material. It is set to Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” TheWrap describes the sequence as sweet and goodbye-like, while ComingSoon calls it a heartfelt montage and notes footage of Ryan Reynolds discussing his wish to play Deadpool and Jennifer Garner suiting up as Elektra. TheWrap’s explanation and ComingSoon’s explainer detail the material.

This is not a conventional mid-credits introduction of a new character or a plot teaser. Its purpose is retrospective: it looks back at the Fox-era Marvel films and performers.
What happens after the credits?
A separate, brief scene returns to the TVA prisoner-transport incident from earlier in the film. Deadpool plays footage showing Johnny Storm, played by Chris Evans, saying the insults Deadpool had attributed to him when speaking to Cassandra Nova. The reveal confirms Deadpool’s account within the joke and pays off Wolverine’s earlier irritation with him. TheWrap and Nerdist describe the scene as a comic payoff rather than a meaningful preview of a future Marvel story.

- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
How the two scenes differ
| Feature | During the credits | After the credits |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Plays with the credits | Appears after the credits |
| Material | Archival, behind-the-scenes, film, and related promotional footage from the Fox Marvel era | A return to the earlier TVA transport incident, showing Johnny Storm |
| Tone | Reflective and farewell-like, underscored by “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” | Primarily comic |
| Function | A look back at the films and performers | A payoff to the Johnny Storm joke |
Is the second scene really a farewell?
Not in the same sense as the montage. The montage’s archival footage and song give it a memorial quality: it celebrates the Fox-era characters and the people who brought them to screen. The final Johnny Storm scene instead closes a comic thread. Calling both moments “farewells” is an interpretive description of the film’s closing gesture, but the evidence for an explicit send-off belongs chiefly to the montage.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president and producer, discussed the film in the context of Fox’s X-Men characters and the leads’ emotional relationship. In a Walt Disney Company interview, he said: “The secret to integrating Deadpool into the Disney company is to let Deadpool be Deadpool.” That is broader context about the character’s integration, not a stated explanation of the montage.
