Seven well-documented defeats stand out for their championship stakes, decisive finishes or effect on Brock Lesnar’s career. This is an editorial ranking, not an official list of his losses: the verified examples span both MMA bouts and WWE matches, which are different kinds of competition.
How this ranking works
The order weighs four factors: championship or career consequences, the opponent’s significance, how decisive or surprising the result was, and whether it changed Lesnar’s trajectory. WWE match outcomes are scripted entertainment results; UFC bouts are athletic contests. They can both be consequential, but they should not be treated as interchangeable entries in a single sporting record.
The official WWE and UFC event records cited here support seven notable losses. They do not establish an exhaustive top ten or a complete count of Lesnar’s WWE defeats, so this ranking stops at seven rather than filling the remaining places with unverified results.
The biggest verified losses
1. Cain Velasquez — UFC 121 (2010)
Velasquez stopped Lesnar by first-round TKO and took the UFC heavyweight title, ending Lesnar’s reign as champion. The loss ranks first because it combined a major title consequence with a clear change in Lesnar’s standing in the UFC heavyweight division. UFC’s retrospective records the result and the title change.

2. Alistair Overeem — UFC 141 (2011)
Overeem stopped Lesnar by TKO at 2:26 of the first round at UFC 141 on December 30, 2011. Afterward, Lesnar announced that he was retiring from the Octagon, making the defeat the endpoint of his initial UFC run. Lesnar said, “My hat’s off to Alistair Overeem.” UFC’s event report records both the stoppage and his announcement.
3. Goldberg — Survivor Series (2016)
WWE records Goldberg’s win in 1 minute, 24 seconds. Its event report describes a finish involving two Spears and a Jackhammer. The striking feature is the result’s brevity and surprise: Lesnar, presented as a dominant opponent, lost in a match that ended almost as soon as it began.

5. Seth Rollins — WrestleMania 35 (2019)
Rollins defeated Lesnar to win the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35. It was a direct title loss on a major stage, making it one of the clearest championship setbacks in Lesnar’s WWE run.

6. Roman Reigns — WrestleMania 38 (2022)
In a Winner Take All championship unification match, Reigns overcame WWE Champion Lesnar and became Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. WWE’s official result identifies the stakes and outcome. It ranks below the earlier title losses here as an editorial judgment, not because the unification carried lesser significance.
7. Cody Rhodes — Backlash (2023)
WWE’s official Backlash results list Rhodes as the winner over Lesnar. The result belongs among the verified notable losses, but the result page alone does not establish that it altered Lesnar’s longer-term trajectory or justify broader claims about the match’s quality.

UFC’s athlete profile lists Lesnar’s UFC record as 6-3-0. That figure applies to his UFC record, not to his career across WWE and other wrestling contexts. The seven entries above are a curated set of consequential, officially documented results, not a complete ledger of every WWE defeat or a claim that no other loss could qualify.
