Spoilers for the final arc and ending of the Oshi no Ko manga. The series’ final volume brings Aqua’s revenge to its climax, but Shueisha’s synopsis frames the central question as who is truly to be avenged—not as confirmation of one officially designated “true villain.” Hikaru Kamiki is central to the late conflict; calling him the story’s definitive villain is a reading of the events, not the publisher’s stated conclusion. And there is no verified evidence here that fans as a whole will dislike that reading.

What the ending officially confirms

Shueisha identifies volume 16 as the final volume of Oshi no Ko. Its synopsis says Aqua’s revenge reaches its climax and that the meaning behind Ai’s “15-Year Lie” is revealed. It also asks, in Japanese, 「真に復讐すべき相手は、果たして…!?」—literally, “Who, then, is truly the one to be avenged?” That is a question posed by the publisher’s synopsis, not a declaration that the story has named a single “true villain.”

The distinction matters: the official description establishes revenge and Ai’s concealed motives as central to the conclusion, but it does not settle how readers should weigh responsibility, agency, or the story’s moral framing.

Is Hikaru Kamiki the true villain?

Hikaru Kamiki is central to the late conflict, so he is a natural candidate for the label. But “true villain” compresses several different questions into one: who directly committed harmful acts, who planned or enabled them, who concealed what happened, and how much agency each person had. A character’s connection to the conflict is not, by itself, proof that the narrative assigns that character sole responsibility for every part of it.

The strongest careful answer is therefore narrower than the headline: Kamiki is central to the final confrontation, while declaring him the one definitive villain is an interpretation that needs to be grounded in the specific events of the manga. Shueisha’s synopsis does not make that judgment for the reader.

Why might readers disagree with the “true villain” reading?

Some readers may object to a singular-villain verdict because a revenge story can distinguish direct responsibility from planning, concealment, motive, and the consequences of other characters’ choices. A conclusion that emphasizes those distinctions may feel less like a simple culprit reveal and more like a challenge to the idea that revenge has one obvious target. That is a possible explanation for disagreement, not evidence that fans broadly reject the ending.

No audience-reaction statistics or representative fan evidence are established by the official material cited here. The claim that fans “won’t be happy” should be treated as a prediction or opinion, not a measured consensus.
