South Park Season 27 premiered on July 23, 2025, more than two years after Season 26 began on February 8, 2023. That is a clear gap between season premieres, but the available official records do not establish that the show had previously premiered in every consecutive calendar year—or that this was the first break in an all-time streak.
What Season 27’s schedule confirms
Comedy Central first announced April 2, 2025, that Season 27 would premiere July 9. On July 2, the network moved the premiere to July 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The season ultimately began on July 23, 2025, with “Sermon on the ‘Mount.” Comedy Central’s date update and the official Season 27 episode listing document the change and schedule.

The official listing gives five episode dates: July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3, and September 24, 2025. It establishes the episodes listed for the season, but does not explain why the season has five entries or how the season boundary was chosen.
Did the show break a “huge streak”?
That depends on what “streak” means. The premiere dates for Seasons 26 and 27 show that more than two years separated their season starts. They do not, on their own, establish a continuous annual premiere streak across the series’ history. A claim that Season 27 broke a streak “for the first time” would require a complete season-by-season chronology and a clear definition—such as one premiere in every calendar year.

Comedy Central’s July 2, 2025 update says South Park debuted on the network on August 13, 1997. That history makes the series’ long run clear, but it does not prove that every year since then included a new season premiere. Nor do the cited season records establish whether a year without a premiere had no new South Park episodes at all; a season-premiere gap and a year with no new content are different claims.

What Paramount reported about the premiere
Paramount and Comedy Central reported nearly 6 million cross-platform viewers for the Season 27 premiere in a July 30, 2025, release. The company defined that cross-platform total using linear episodes and streaming; streaming total viewers were calculated by dividing Global Total Watch Time by run time over the first three days. The release attributed its linear ratings and share comparisons to Nielsen, and reported a 68% higher premiere share than for Season 26’s February 8, 2023, premiere. These are publisher-reported audience figures, not evidence of an annual release streak. Paramount’s measurement notes and results.
