Suits uses “Greenback Boogie,” performed by Ima Robot, as its theme song. The track was released in 2010, before the series began, and the show’s creator, Aaron Korsh, credited pilot director Kevin Bray with choosing it. Its lyrics put money at the center; what that says about the series is interpretation, not a confirmed statement of the songwriter’s intent.
What is the Suits theme song?
The theme is “Greenback Boogie” by the American band Ima Robot, with Alex Ebert on lead vocals. USA Network identifies it as a 2010 single and a B-side bonus track from the band’s album Another Man’s Treasure. It was not written for Suits; it was selected for the series after its release. USA Network’s account of the song and its selection gives the production history.

Who chose the song for Suits?
According to USA Network, creator Aaron Korsh credited pilot director Kevin Bray with the choice. Korsh said: “Kevin Bray, director of the pilot and Producer/Director Seasons 1 & 2 chose it.” He also recalled that another song had been considered, but said he could not remember which one.
What do the lyrics mean?
The opening-credit excerpt printed by USA Network uses money and food imagery, including a brief reference to “bean pie,” before returning to the refrain “The greenback boogie.” The network describes the song as being about the power of money and the pleasure it brings. The version heard in the opening is an edited, broadcast-friendly excerpt; the uncut song continues beyond it. USA Network prints the excerpt and discusses the edit in its theme-song article.

A reading about money and justice
A 2017 article in the Journal of the Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies offers a more pointed interpretation: it contrasts the modest “bean pie” and “little cream cheese” imagery with the lawyers’ high-value deals and lifestyles. The article reads the repeated refrain as suggesting an enterprise centered on money rather than justice. That is a scholarly reading of the lyrics and the series, not an established account of what the songwriter intended. Read the article, “The portrayal of the corporate lawyer on TV” (2017).
Why does “Greenback Boogie” fit Suits?
The production connection is straightforward: Bray chose the song for the pilot, as Korsh’s account reported by USA Network explains. Its lyrical focus on money also suits a drama about powerful lawyers and financially consequential clients. The fit can be heard as celebratory, because the song links money with pleasure, or more critically, as a reminder that financial ambition may compete with justice. USA Network’s description emphasizes money’s power and appeal; the 2017 scholarly article supplies the money-versus-justice interpretation. Neither source establishes that the song was written specifically for the show.

Where can you watch Suits?
In an article published July 23, 2024, USA Network said all nine seasons were available on Peacock. That is a dated catalog statement, not a guarantee of current availability: streaming catalogs can change, and availability can depend on territory. Check Peacock’s current listing for your location before relying on it.
