Spoiler: Yes. The Fire Country Season 4 trailer confirmed that Vince Leone did not survive the Zabel Ridge fire. It showed his funeral, where Bode vows to continue his father’s mission. Season 4 has since aired: it premiered October 17, 2025, and its finale aired May 22, 2026.
What the Season 4 trailer revealed
The trailer put Vince’s fate beyond doubt by showing his funeral. TVLine reported the reveal on September 23, 2025, before the season premiere. Bode says at the funeral, “I’m going to spend the rest of my career protecting my father’s town, my father’s station, my father’s mission.” The line is dialogue from the trailer, not a statement by actor Max Thieriot. How Vince’s death shapes the season
Vince’s death follows the Zabel Ridge fire. In its trailer coverage, TVLine also reported that Station 42 was looking for a new chief and facing suspension from active duty as the team dealt with the loss. The reveal therefore sets up a story about the station’s shared grief and what happens to the people and mission Vince leaves behind.
Creators and executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan told TVLine they chose to disclose the death before the premiere because of what Vince meant to the fans and the creative team. Phelan said they wanted the trailer to establish the season as a story about Station 42 facing the loss together, rather than use the death as a tune-in gimmick. Rater connected the character’s death to the danger of real-life firefighting and the show’s effort to tell an authentic story. “We want to be respectful of what he means to our fans, what he means to us,” Rater said.
