That is the “tragic reason” highlighted in coverage of her comments—but it is one explanation she shared on television, not proof of a single cause behind her wish to become a mother.

In a recap of 90 Day: The Single Life, Soap Dirt reported that Natalie cried while describing how her father left her mother after infidelity. She worried that a man she had a baby with might leave her, too. Soap Dirt’s recap summarizes the on-screen account; it does not independently establish the family history or show that it definitively explains Natalie’s feelings.

Her wish for a child also came with age and relationship pressure
Natalie had discussed wanting a child earlier in the franchise. TV Insider’s recap of the 2019 storyline reports that she told Mike she felt pressure because of her age. The recap also says her friend connected the end of Natalie’s previous marriage, in part, to her ex-husband not wanting children. Those are reported details from that period, not claims about her present circumstances. TV Insider’s recap provides that account.
She later said she wanted a baby with someone she loved
In a later preview for 90 Day: The Single Life, Natalie said she wanted a baby from “someone she loves,” according to Monsters and Critics. The phrase suggests the importance she placed on having a child within a loving relationship; it should not be read as evidence that a baby would resolve her fear of abandonment. Monsters and Critics’ preview report attributes the statement to her on-screen comments.

What happened when Natalie asked Michael about having a child?
Entertainment Tonight reported in March 2024 that Natalie asked her estranged husband Michael about getting back together and having a child. He said no. Natalie then told the cameras she had hoped he would want a child. The recap documents that exchange in the episode; it does not establish their relationship status today.
