What happens in “A Regular Guy”?
The CW lists “A Regular Guy” as Season 4, Episode 7, with an airdate of November 11, 2024. Its official synopsis sets up two strands: Clark is trying to protect the secret that he is Superman, while Jonathan and Jordan complicate that effort; meanwhile, Lois considers the future of the Gazette after Chrissy proposes a drastic change. The CW’s episode listing gives that premise.
As suspicion about Clark grows in Smallville, he tries to persuade people that he is not Superman. That effort becomes urgent at a diner gathering when a gunman connected to Candice’s family threatens him. Kyle steps forward to protect Clark, but the confrontation makes the danger of maintaining the secret immediate.
Why does Clark reveal himself at the diner?
Clark changes into the Superman suit in front of the diners. The reveal is not simply a response to public suspicion: the threat shows that continuing to deny who he is can put the people around him in danger. Clark chooses to stop managing the moment through concealment and let those present see the truth. TVLine’s recap of the episode describes the diner confrontation and reveal.

How does Clark make the reveal public?
The diner is only the first step. Clark later appears in a live Daily Planet interview with Janet Olsen, Jimmy Olsen’s sister, and publicly confirms that he is Superman. Comic Book Club reports that Clark’s family discusses and supports his decision before the interview. Its account of the public reveal covers that broadcast.
What does the ending mean for Clark and Jimmy?
The episode’s personal payoff is Clark and Jimmy making peace in present-day Smallville. Flashbacks explain the strain between them: Jimmy suspected Clark was Superman, and Clark pulled away to protect his secret. That choice preserved Clark’s privacy but cost him closeness with a friend.
Read together, the diner scene and reconciliation shift the story’s question from whether Clark can keep his identity hidden to what hiding it has done to his relationships. His public confession accepts a new risk, while making peace with Jimmy offers an immediate, personal repair. The title’s “regular guy” idea fits that contrast: extraordinary powers do not remove Clark’s ordinary need for friendship, family, and trust. This is an interpretation of the episode’s events, not a stated explanation from its creators. TVLine’s recap and account of the Jimmy thread describe the reveal and reconciliation.

The official premise says Lois considers the Gazette’s future after Chrissy proposes a drastic change. The available episode summaries establish that this storyline is in play, but do not establish the full resolution of Lois’s decision, so it should not be treated as settled by the episode’s headline-making reveal.
