Sony currently lists Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse for U.S. theaters on June 18, 2027. That is the announced date, not a guarantee: Sony’s investor schedule says release dates and titles are subject to change. The official sources confirm the current listing but do not establish the full history or reasons behind earlier date changes.
When is Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse scheduled to release?
Sony Pictures Animation lists the film as “In theaters June 18, 2027” on its official film page. Sony’s FY25.4Q investor schedule also places it on June 18, 2027, among selected U.S. releases from April 1, 2027 onward.
That makes June 18, 2027 the currently announced U.S. theatrical date. It should not be described as a worldwide release date: territory schedules can differ, and the U.S. schedule itself is subject to change.
Why is this release-date update being called disappointing?
“Disappointing” is an editorial judgment in the headline, not a description Sony gives the date. The confirmed update is that Sony’s current U.S. listing is June 18, 2027. The official sources cited here do not provide a complete chronology of previous announcements or explain why the timing changed, so claims about another delay or its cause would go beyond what they establish.

Sony’s synopsis follows Miles Morales after he is hunted by Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society and betrayed by his friends. Miles searches the Spider-Verse for a way home while trying to protect and reunite his endangered family. The story continues the arc set up by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which Sony describes as the second film in the franchise and the setup for the next chapter of Miles’s story.
