Jessica St. Clair plays Heather, Abby Stone’s chaotic childhood friend, in the Night Court episode “Wrath of Comic-Con.” In a January 30, 2024 interview, St. Clair said working opposite her real-life friend Melissa Rauch was “a true dream.”

Who does Jessica St. Clair play in Night Court?

St. Clair plays Heather, a friend Abby Stone (Rauch) has known since kindergarten. Heather comes back into Abby’s life and stays with the judge, disrupting her routine. St. Clair described the character as an old friend who may no longer be a good fit once they are adults.

Heather’s childhood stories are as outlandish as her visit: she once fell into a gorilla pit and became known in national news as “Baby Heather.” Another tale has Abby chiseling Heather out of a sugar cocoon after Heather got onto a Krispy Kreme conveyor belt. Heather is arrested by the end of the episode.

What did St. Clair say about working with Melissa Rauch?

St. Clair told Awards Daily that she and Rauch are close friends: “Melissa Rauch is one of my best and oldest friends.” When Rauch told her she was making a Night Court reboot, St. Clair recalled thinking it would be a perfect fit. “It was a true dream,” she said of appearing alongside Rauch.

She also described the thrill of sharing the screen with returning cast member John Larroquette: “To stand next to John Larroquette, I was shaking.” St. Clair praised Rauch’s command of sitcom comedy, calling her “an Olympic athlete of sitcoms,” and said she felt proud watching Rauch land jokes.

Why was Heather a different kind of role for St. Clair?

Heather gave St. Clair the chance to play a deliberately extreme character. “I don’t often get to play totally insane people, so this was really fun,” she said. That comic intensity drives the contrast between Heather’s disruptive visit and Abby’s work as a judge.

How does the episode fit into Night Court?

The original Night Court ran from 1984 to 1992. The revival centers on a new generation of night-court characters, with Rauch as judge Abby Stone and Larroquette returning as Dan Fielding. St. Clair’s guest appearance connects the revival’s courtroom world to Abby’s personal history rather than revisiting the original show’s cast as a whole.

“Wrath of Comic-Con” is the episode to look for if you want to see St. Clair opposite Rauch. The interview was published when the series aired Tuesdays on NBC at 8 p.m. ET; that was the schedule reported in January 2024, not a current listing. The interview does not establish current streaming availability.
