If you recognize the cast of The Paper, it may be from The White Lotus, Ex Machina, Poker Face or Never Have I Ever. The clearest link to The Office is Oscar Nuñez, who returns as Oscar Martinez; most of the Toledo newsroom is a new ensemble.
How The Paper connects to The Office
The Paper keeps the mockumentary setup associated with The Office, but shifts the documentary crew to Toledo, Ohio, where they film the staff of the struggling newspaper the Toledo Truth Teller. Oscar Nuñez is the returning cast member, reprising his role as accountant Oscar Martinez. The rest of the newsroom brings a largely new group of performers and characters.
Co-creator and executive producer Greg Daniels explained the connection in an interview with the Television Academy: “There’s connective tissue, and a newspaper trying to cut costs while covering the local community would be attractive to that documentary crew. Especially if there’s a guy trying to fight against that.”

Gleeson plays Ned Sampson, the idealistic new editor-in-chief. For a quick recognition point, look to Ex Machina or the Star Wars films, where he played a villain. NBCUniversal also highlights About Time.
