Netflix’s latest located update, dated June 18, 2025, said the series was untitled and in production; it did not give a release date.
What Netflix has confirmed
Netflix’s June 18, 2025 Tudum update said the company had announced the three-part series the previous year. Netflix said it would explore the days leading up to O’Keefe’s death and named Sandpaper Films as the production company. Danielle Johnson and Rob Miller are co-directors.

At the time of the update, Netflix described the project as “as-yet-untitled” and “currently in production.” The announcement expressed an intention to bring the series to a global Netflix audience, but did not establish when it would be available.
Is there a release date?
No release date appears in Netflix’s June 18, 2025 update, and no newer official Netflix announcement was located. That means a premiere date is not confirmed by the latest located update—not that Netflix cannot announce one later. The announcement also gives no episode runtimes or final series title.

What the documentary is about
Netflix says the series will examine what happened in the days before O’Keefe’s death. In its account, O’Keefe was found unresponsive in the snow outside a home in Canton, Massachusetts, on January 29, 2022, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Read, who was then O’Keefe’s girlfriend, was charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
The prosecution’s account
Netflix summarizes the prosecution’s position as alleging that Read, drunk and angry, hit O’Keefe with her SUV. This is the prosecution’s allegation, not an established account of what happened.

The defense’s account
Netflix summarizes the defense position as claiming that Read was framed and that law enforcement conspired to cover up the real killers. This is the defense’s claim, not a finding established by the documentary announcement.
What happened in Read’s trials?
Netflix reports that the jury in Read’s first trial said on July 1, 2024, that it could not reach a unanimous verdict; the judge then declared a mistrial.

In its June 18, 2025 update, Netflix reported that Read was acquitted of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of a collision, and convicted of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor. Those outcomes are distinct: the acquittals do not erase the separate conviction.
