The Perth pub opened on 19 January 2024 at the former Convenients site, borrowing the Cork venue’s name and music history for a new local bar.
Where is Sir Henry’s in Northbridge?
Sir Henry’s is at 35 Lake Street, Northbridge. The address and the venue’s current broad description of weekly live music and events appear on its official website. Check the site’s current listings for event details and opening information rather than relying on launch coverage.
The Perth venue opened on 19 January 2024 in the former Convenients premises, according to PerthNow’s report published the following day.
What was Sir Henry’s in Cork?
The original Sir Henry’s was a Cork music venue and nightclub. Reports describe an early association with punk and live music, followed by its reputation as a house and dance destination. The Cork club hosted acts including The Pogues, Sonic Youth and The Fall; the venue’s account also recalls Nirvana playing support to Sonic Youth. Sir Henry’s’ own history and The Echo’s Cork-focused feature recount that musical legacy.

The Echo reports that the Cork club closed in 2003 and was later demolished. That history is the inspiration for the Perth name; it does not mean the old Cork business or its original premises moved to Western Australia.
How does the Perth venue pay tribute to the Cork club?
The Perth bar’s homage includes archival photographs and a recreated logo, as described by The Echo. Its story also links the idea to a stout that Ian Jeffrey made with his uncle. The Echo quotes Jeffrey explaining the approach: “We are not the fully Irish-themed bar you normally see abroad but there is no confusion from people asking why we would call it Sir Henry’s. If you know you know.”

In PerthNow’s January 2024 opening report, Jeffery described the idea as bringing over “the things I used to like when I lived in Ireland.” That statement explains the launch concept, rather than establishing the venue’s current menu or programming.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What was the launch-era concept?
Opening coverage described European-style beers on tap, Irish drinks, chilled pints, frozen vodka and specials advertised in euros. PerthNow reported an opening-era claim of $10 for locally brewed pints and a plan for possible free food on Friday afternoons. Those were launch descriptions and prices from January 2024, not verified current offers.

PerthNow also said the owners expected to follow with a kitchen and beer garden around St Patrick’s Day. That was a plan announced at opening, not confirmation that either is currently operating.
