F1: The Movie became the highest-grossing feature of Brad Pitt’s career, overtaking World War Z, his previous record-holder from 2013. The milestone concerns Pitt’s filmography—not the all-time worldwide box-office record.
Which Brad Pitt movie holds his career box-office record?
It is F1: The Movie, the 2025 racing feature directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Pitt. Apple Original Films announced the movie, with Warner Bros. handling its worldwide theatrical distribution. Apple’s announcement identifies the film and its creative and distribution details.

The previous high for a Pitt feature was World War Z, released in 2013. The 12-year span in the headline runs from that film to F1’s 2025 record-setting run; it does not mean the record stood unchallenged for exactly 12 years under a single final accounting.
How much did F1: The Movie make?
Apple reported that F1: The Movie had passed $600 million worldwide in an August 2025 announcement. In its October 2025 streaming announcement, Apple reported the film above $629 million worldwide. These are dated studio-reported milestones, not a final audited gross. Apple’s August announcement and October announcement give those figures and dates.

For context on its launch, the Associated Press reported studio estimates of a $55.6 million North American opening and a $144 million worldwide opening in 2025. Those are opening-weekend figures, not the film’s lifetime totals. The AP report covers the debut.
How does it compare with World War Z?
The career-record comparison is between Pitt’s two films, measured by worldwide box office. Motorsport.com reported World War Z at approximately $540 million worldwide in its 2025 comparison with F1. That outlet’s later milestone for F1 is not necessarily based on the same accounting cutoff as its figure for World War Z, so the numbers should be treated as reported snapshots rather than perfectly matched final totals. Motorsport.com’s comparison explains the figures.

Does this mean F1 is the highest-grossing movie of all time?
No. “Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing movie” is a career-specific ranking, not a claim about every film worldwide. In an October 4, 2026 announcement, Disney said Avengers: Endgame had surpassed Avatar to reclaim the unadjusted worldwide box-office record. Disney’s announcement concerns that all-film ranking, a different comparison from Pitt’s personal career high.
Was F1 also a record-setting sports movie?
Formula One’s official 2025 season review identified F1: The Movie as the highest-grossing sports film at that time, surpassing Cars 2. This is another distinct category from both Pitt’s career ranking and the all-time worldwide record. Formula One’s review gives that comparison.
