Bobby did not permanently leave Tracker during Season 2: the story explained his absence, and he returned later in the season. Eric Graise departed ahead of Season 3, however, and the show explained Bobby’s later exit as a job offer. As of showrunner Elwood Reid’s January 21, 2026 interview, a return remained possible, but the writers had not found a story that justified it.
Why was Bobby missing in Tracker Season 2?
The show first explained Bobby’s absence as time away for family matters. In a later episode, dialogue connected that absence to the funeral of a close friend. Colter says Bobby was attending the funeral, and Randy explains that the friend and Bobby were like brothers. It was a grief-related story explanation, not an announcement that Bobby had left the series. Source
In a May 2025 interview ahead of the Season 2 finale, executive producer Elwood Reid said Graise had been noticeably absent for six episodes earlier in the season. Randy helped Colter while Bobby was away, and Bobby returned during Season 2. Source
Reid also described actor availability as an ongoing issue for television production, but did not identify a specific scheduling conflict as the cause of each missed episode. He characterized Tracker as a series focused closely on Colter rather than an ensemble in which every supporting character appears in every episode: “The show works because you are over Justin [Hartley]’s shoulder.” Source

Did Eric Graise leave Tracker?
Yes, but not during Bobby’s Season 2 absence. TVLine reported on July 18, 2025, that Graise and Abby McEnany had departed ahead of Season 3. TVLine In September 2025, Reid explained the characters’ exits to TV Insider: Velma would go to be with Teddi, while Bobby “has taken an interesting job offer, which we’ll hear about in the first episode.” TV Insider
That distinction matters: the family matters and funeral explain Bobby’s temporary absence within Season 2; the job offer explains his departure from the story before Season 3. The earlier gap should not be treated as evidence that Graise had already left the series.

Could Bobby return?
In a TV Insider interview published January 21, 2026, Reid said a return was possible in principle, but the writers had not found a compelling storyline that justified bringing Bobby or Velma back. That describes the status as of the interview, not a guarantee about later episodes or plans. TV Insider
