That figure is also listed by Biography.com, but the available sources do not establish an independently verified record across every actor who has played Superman on film and television.
Who is the new Superman actor?
David Corenswet stars as Superman in James Gunn’s film. DC’s viewing guide listed the movie’s theatrical release date as July 11, 2025; that date has passed. DC’s guide to watching its live-action Superman movies provides the release context.
What is the 37-year record?
The ScreenRant headline, reproduced in an IMDb syndication item dated May 12, 2024, says Corenswet is 6 ft 4 in and describes him as the tallest actor to play Superman since Christopher Reeve. The IMDb item is the source for that headline and comparison. Biography.com also lists Corenswet at 6 ft 4 in, corroborating the reported figure, not the ranking: Biography.com’s profile.
Is David Corenswet the tallest actor to play Superman?
The evidence supports a narrower conclusion than an all-time record. It gives Corenswet’s reported height and the comparison with Reeve, but it does not offer a consistently sourced height comparison of every Superman actor across film and television. A definitive ranking would also need to define which portrayals count and distinguish published biographical heights from on-screen appearance. The claim is therefore best described as the comparison made in the ScreenRant headline, rather than a proven record covering every Superman portrayal.

How Corenswet prepared for the role
In an Associated Press interview, Corenswet said he studied Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s comic All-Star Superman and observed how Christopher Reeve changed his posture when Lois left the room. The preparation focused on the contrast between Clark Kent and Superman, not just physical resemblance. Corenswet described Superman as “a public facing character, he’s a symbol,” and said of another personal inspiration for Clark’s demeanor, “That’s where I sort of took the spirit of Clark.” Read the Associated Press interview.
