At the end of Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson stops President Thaddeus Ross’s Red Hulk rampage by reaching him emotionally, not by overpowering him. Ross resigns and is held at the Raft. Sam and Joaquin Torres decide to rebuild the Avengers independently of the government, while a post-credits warning from Samuel Sterns, the Leader, hints at danger connected to other worlds without identifying what is coming.
What happens at the end of Captain America: Brave New World?
The film brings Sam Wilson’s central challenge to a head: how to be Captain America without Steve Rogers’ super-soldier serum or the institutional advantages that came with the role. Sterns’s schemes and Ross’s loss of control culminate in Ross transforming into Red Hulk in public. Sam fights him, but the decisive turn comes when he gets through to Ross and connects him with his family rather than simply trying to defeat him by force.
Ross resigns from the presidency after the crisis and is held at the Raft. Betty visits him there. The resolution is personal as well as political: Ross faces the consequences of what happened, while Sam’s response shows that compassion and judgment can be as important to Captain America as physical strength.
How does Sam stop Red Hulk?
Sam does not win by matching Red Hulk’s power. He keeps trying to reach Ross during the rampage, and their connection—and Ross’s family—helps bring Ross back from his rage. The ending makes Sam’s approach a defining part of his version of Captain America.

- As he takes on the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, Sam must unravel a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
In an official D23 interview, Anthony Mackie described Sam’s strengths this way: “His brute force is his humanity, his mind, and his compassion—not his muscles.” Director Julius Onah similarly said, “Sam’s got so much heart. That makes him a great Cap, but he’s also very formidable.” These comments frame the point of the confrontation: Sam’s humanity is not a substitute for courage; it is what lets him respond to Ross in a way brute force alone cannot.
Does Sam rebuild the Avengers?
Yes, Sam and Joaquin Torres decide to rebuild the Avengers outside government control. The film establishes this as an intention, not as a finished team: it does not reveal a roster, show the group operating, or settle how the new Avengers will work. Their independence matters because Sam’s plan is to form a team beyond the government’s authority rather than simply restore an existing arrangement.

What happens to President Ross?
Ross loses control and becomes Red Hulk in public. After Sam reaches him, Ross resigns as president and is held at the Raft, where Betty visits. The ending shows his immediate political and personal consequences; it does not establish what his longer-term future will be.
What does The Leader mean by “It’s coming”?
The post-credits scene takes place after the full credits; the cited breakdown reports no mid-credits scene. Sam visits Sterns, also known as the Leader, at the Raft. Sterns warns him, “It’s coming.” In the scene, as quoted by Los Angeles Times reporter Tracy Brown, Sterns adds: “All you heroes protecting the world, you think you’re the only ones? Do you think this is the only world? We’ll see what happens when you have to protect this place from the others.”

- Steve Rogers wields the shield in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Then it?s Sam Wilson who unleashes his wings and takes up the mantle in Captain America: Brave New World. Join them as they fight evil global forces with this action-packed 4-movie set.
The reference to “the only world” plainly points toward a multiverse-related danger. The scene does not identify the threat or explain how it will unfold, so claims that it confirms a particular villain, team, or upcoming film go beyond what is shown.

The Serpent Society is part of the film’s conflict, but the cited reporting does not establish the final fate of its individual members. It does not settle whether Sidewinder or any other member will return. The film’s ending therefore does not support a definitive claim about the group’s future.
