The available ranking supports five—not ten—most-anticipated new TV shows for September 2024. In the order reported by TheWrap from Whip Media’s Whip Watch Report, they were Agatha All Along, The Penguin, High Potential, Doctor Odyssey and Brilliant Minds. The ranking reflects reported interest among U.S. audiences, not a forecast of what ultimately drew the largest audience.

What this ranking does—and does not—measure
TheWrap described the Whip Watch Report list as covering anticipated shows among U.S. audiences. Its article does not disclose the report’s sample, field dates, weighting or ranking formula. The ordering is therefore best read as a reported audience-interest ranking, not as a census of viewers, a prediction of eventual viewing or a definitive measure of popularity.

The article’s headline also mentions Monsters, but that title appeared in the separate returning-shows category. Combining the new-show and returning-show lists would not produce a list of ten new shows.
Why other September lists have different entries
Rotten Tomatoes published its own list, titled “The 5 Most Anticipated TV or Streaming Shows of September.” It said Agatha All Along received 30% of all votes and placed first. The other entries were Slow Horses season 4, Tulsa King season 2, From season 3 and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2. Because that list includes returning seasons, it is not a competing top-five ranking of new series. The available accounts also do not establish that Rotten Tomatoes’ voters and Whip Media’s audience measure used the same sample or method.

Anticipation is not the same as viewing
Viewing figures recorded after release answer a different question from a pre-premiere anticipation ranking. Nielsen’s September 2024 Gauge report listed The Rings of Power as the month’s third-most-watched streaming title, with 4.3 billion viewing minutes; The Perfect Couple led with 5.5 billion. Those are realized viewing totals, not evidence that either title should have ranked in a list of anticipated new shows. Nielsen said streaming accounted for 41.0% of TV viewing in September 2024. Its Gauge measures viewing through television screens across broadcast, cable and streaming, rather than global, cross-device streaming totals.
Nielsen’s annual 2024 streaming report later said Nobody Wants This, released in late September, accumulated 4.90 billion viewing minutes. That later total likewise measures viewing, not what audiences anticipated before the series premiered.
