The available 2026 coverage does not provide a newer contact update. In February, Charlie told Parade that a similar jury outcome on Survivor 50 could bring “PTSD flashbacks to Season 46”—his colloquial description, not a clinical assessment. March coverage also linked his reaction to a player not voting for a close ally to the earlier Maria vote ([c006]; [c007]). Those reports address his feelings and gameplay, not whether the two spoke privately.
Why the friendship became strained
Charlie and Maria were close strategic allies on Survivor 46. At the finale, Maria voted for Kenzie Petty to win rather than Charlie. Kenzie won the jury vote 5–3–0 over Charlie and Ben Katzman, with Maria among the five jurors who chose Kenzie, according to Us Weekly.

Maria’s account in the same period was more hopeful about the friendship. She told TVLine that she and Charlie had spoken several times and visited during the year after filming. She said she hoped they could get through the difficult moment if Charlie wanted to, adding, “the ball is in his court and if he doesn’t want to, then I respect that.”
Maria said Kenzie’s fire-making performance and her comments at Final Tribal Council about using the prize money to start a family resonated with her. She also pushed back on treating her ballot as the sole deciding vote: she was one of five jurors who voted for Kenzie ([c003]; [c008]).
What is—and is not—known about their relationship now
The public accounts document an immediate post-finale rupture, Maria’s stated willingness to try to move past it, and Charlie’s November 2024 report that they had not spoken since the season aired. They do not establish whether the two later resumed contact or reconciled. The 2026 stories about Charlie revisiting the jury experience do not answer that private-status question.
