Who plays Nam Gi-jun, and what is his story?
So Ji-sub plays Nam Gi-jun, the central character. Eleven years before the story begins, Gi-jun severed his own Achilles tendon to leave the underworld. His brother’s death draws him back to seek the truth and pursue revenge.
Gi-jun’s baseball bat is a signature prop. The injury to his Achilles tendon leaves him with a limp, shaping the character’s physical presence and movement. It is a detail of the fictional character, not an endorsement of real-world weapons or violence.
How are the Juwoon and Bongsan characters connected?
The central conflict pits two powerful Seoul organizations against each other. Juwoon is led by Lee Ju-woon, while Gu Bong-san leads Bongsan. The younger generation deepens the rivalry: Juwoon’s Gi-seok is named successor, and Bong-san’s son, Jun-mo, is a managing director in Bongsan.

What kind of action character is Gi-jun?
Gi-jun is not presented as a fast-moving action hero: his limp is part of his backstory and affects the way he moves. At a Seoul press conference on June 5, 2025, director Choi Sung-eun said, “Ki-jun is a character who bears the crucial handicap of a limp because he severed his own Achilles tendon,” and explained that she designed his movement to be “slow but constantly pressing forward.” So Ji-sub described Gi-jun as someone who communicates through action and his eyes more than words.
