Spoilers for Big Brother 26: America’s Veto let Makensy Manbeck remove herself from the nomination block after the regular Veto meeting. Because she used the power, Head of Household Cedric Hodges did not choose the next replacement nominee. Viewers did—and Quinn Martin was selected in the vote revealed on the Aug. 8, 2024 episode.
How America’s Veto changed the nominations
The twist came into play after a sequence of separate decisions. Tucker Des Lauriers won the regular Power of Veto and used it to save Angela Murray. Cedric, as Head of Household, then named Makensy Manbeck as Angela’s replacement. Makensy activated the America’s Veto upgrade she had received in Week 1 and removed herself from the block.
That second removal changed who chose the replacement: America selected the next nominee by vote. The live episode on Aug. 8, 2024 revealed Quinn Martin as the nominee, according to contemporaneous coverage from Us Weekly and PennLive. CBS’s Season 26 episode guide confirms that the public selected the third nominee, but its synopsis does not name Quinn.
America’s Veto versus the regular Power of Veto
The two powers were distinct. CBS explains the regular Veto this way: “The houseguests compete to win the power of veto; during the veto meeting, the winner of the competition can keep nominations the same or save someone from eviction for the week.” In this week’s sequence, Tucker used that power on Angela, and Cedric chose Makensy as the replacement. Makensy’s separate America’s Veto let her remove herself; it did not let her personally choose who would replace her. That final choice went to America.

Who viewers could vote for
Us Weekly’s Aug. 7, 2024 explainer listed nine eligible houseguests for that vote:
- Quinn Martin
- Brooklyn Rivera
- Cam Sullivan-Brown
- Chelsie Baham
- Joseph Rodriguez
- Kimo Apaka
- Leah Peters
- Rubina Bernabe
- T’kor Clottey
According to that same contemporaneous report, voting took place at CBS.com/BBvote and was open to U.S. residents age 18 or older. Each email address could submit up to 10 votes. These were the rules for the 2024 America’s Veto vote—not an active voting opportunity or a promise of the rules for a future season. No authoritative vote total for Quinn’s selection is established in the cited coverage.

CBS described Season 26 as a competition featuring 16 strangers over 90 straight days, with a $750,000 grand prize. Those figures describe the season as promoted in 2024; they do not change how this particular nomination twist worked.
