Dragon Ball DAIMA’s premiere, “Conspiracy,” makes a persuasive start by treating its setup as the beginning of an adventure rather than a destination. The episode offers a fresh point of entry while drawing on the playful spirit and familiar characters that longtime fans recognize. Calling it “Toriyama’s last Goku adventure” needs a qualification: Akira Toriyama contributed the series’ original concept, story, and character designs, but that does not make this his final contribution to every part of the Dragon Ball franchise.
What happens in “Conspiracy”?
“Conspiracy” establishes the premise for a new Dragon Ball story and sets Goku and his friends on a fresh adventure. Crunchyroll’s October 15, 2024 recap describes the episode as the start of a brand-new story in which the group embarks on a new journey. That is the most useful spoiler-light way to approach the premiere: it introduces a changed situation and points toward what the characters will have to do next, rather than resolving the central adventure in one episode.
The episode is called “Conspiracy.” It is the first of a completed 20-episode series; Toei Animation’s FY2025 corporate presentation says all 20 episodes aired between October 2024 and February 2025.
Does the premiere start strong?
Yes. “Conspiracy” works best as an invitation: it gives the story a clear forward direction and makes the prospect of seeing Goku and his friends navigate a new adventure the main attraction. The premiere’s appeal is less about delivering a self-contained payoff than about making the next episode feel like a natural continuation.

Setup with somewhere to go
The opening episode has the usual balancing act of a franchise premiere: it needs to establish the new situation without making the audience wait too long for the adventure to begin. Here, the premise gives the episode momentum. The setup is there to move the characters into a new story, not to make the premiere feel like a lecture about the series.
A friendly entry point, with a reward for familiarity
DAIMA is framed as a new story, which helps viewers who are curious about Dragon Ball but do not want to begin by catching up on every earlier series. The recognizable cast and the expectation that Goku’s past adventures matter still give returning fans more context to bring with them. Newcomers can follow the episode’s basic invitation; longtime viewers are better placed to appreciate what it means to see these characters setting out again.

Adventure and comedy set the expectation
The premiere points toward a comic, exploratory kind of Dragon Ball story rather than asking viewers to judge the series by a single dramatic climax. That tonal promise is part of its strength: the fun is in watching a familiar hero enter unfamiliar circumstances. This is a review judgment about the premiere, not a claim about how every episode or every viewer will respond.
What does “Toriyama’s last Goku adventure” mean?
The phrase is best understood as editorial shorthand for a major posthumous release built from Akira Toriyama’s creative work. The Dragon Ball Official Site says Toriyama worked on DAIMA’s original concept, story, and character designs. That makes his role central to the series’ foundation, and gives the premiere particular significance for readers interested in his legacy.

It would go too far to call “Conspiracy” his final contribution to every Dragon Ball medium, or to suggest that he personally supervised the finished episode. The official information establishes his work on the series’ concept, story, and designs; it does not establish either broader claim.

DAIMA began airing in Japan on October 11, 2024, and its 20 episodes finished airing in February 2025. Toei Animation USA announced a subtitled Crunchyroll simulcast beginning October 11, 2024, in the United States, Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. That was the original launch arrangement, not a guarantee that the series is currently available on Crunchyroll in every listed territory. Streaming catalogs and rights can change, so check the service in your country for current availability.
