Yahoo Tech’s December 29 guide places its start at the S in row five and describes the route as snaking up, over, and back down to the E, L, and F in row five. That is a route clue, not a full board diagram. A recap in the next day’s Yahoo Tech guide also lists the six words and spangram for #666.
How Strands hints work
Yahoo Tech describes Strands as a daily New York Times word game played on a six-column-by-eight-row grid. Letters can connect horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, and every letter is used. According to its guide, finding three non-answer words of at least four letters lights the in-game hint icon. The hint reveals the letters in an answer but not their order or connecting path; further assistance can reveal the answer letter by letter. The guide says hints affect the final score.
