Julie Christie played Madame Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004). Christie had won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Darling at the 1966 ceremony—decades before her appearance in the wizarding world.
Julie Christie’s role in the Harry Potter film
Christie appears as Madame Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third film in the series. The American Film Institute’s film-program listing identifies her in the role and dates the film to 2004: AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center film program, issue 77.
Madame Rosmerta is the proprietor of the Three Broomsticks inn in Hogsmeade. The available cast listing supports Christie’s appearance in this film; it does not establish that she appeared in multiple Harry Potter movies. Penguin Random House also notes Christie’s role as Rosmerta in the films: Julie Christie.
The Oscar came for a different film
Christie won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Darling at the 1966 Academy Awards. That is the ceremony year, not the year of the Harry Potter film, and the Oscar was not for her portrayal of Rosmerta. A secondary reference records the award: HP-FC: Julie Frances Christie (Madame Rosmerta).
