Bad Chad Customs follows Nova Scotia builder Chad Hiltz and his team turning old vehicles and salvaged materials into one-off custom creations. The TV series did not move into its planned third season after pandemic-related production shutdowns, according to an April 2025 report; Hiltz and collaborator Jolene MacIntyre instead built a substantial video presence on YouTube and Facebook. That account describes a change in how their work reached viewers, not proof that the series can never return.
Who is Bad Chad?
“Bad Chad” is Chad Hiltz, a custom-car builder from Nova Scotia. Discovery’s show page presents him as a resourceful builder who uses scrap and junkyard metal to create one-of-a-kind vehicles. The network’s 2018 announcement says he built his shop by hand in his hometown and relied on basic tools and ingenuity.

The show’s appeal is the transformation: Hiltz starts with an old vehicle or discarded material and works it into a distinctive build. Discovery’s official photo gallery documents a Pinto customization, a motorcycle, a dump truck built around a 1934 Oldsmobile sedan, and a Cadillac project. Its captions show processes including welding, sawing, sanding, painting, and bodywork. Those images document the work shown; they do not establish that a vehicle was roadworthy or met any particular safety standard.
What happened to Bad Chad Customs?
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the series on October 31, 2018, with a premiere set for January 1 on Discovery Channel, and named Love Productions as the producer. The Journal Pioneer reported on April 24, 2025, that the first season aired internationally in 2019 and the second in 2020. The same report says the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production of a planned third season. After the delay, Hiltz and MacIntyre chose to pursue their own publishing path.

That account supports saying the third season was disrupted and did not proceed as planned. It does not establish that the show has been permanently canceled or that a future season has been announced.
What did the show’s builds look like?
The projects range from unusual transformations to builds based on recognizable vintage vehicles. Discovery UK episode summaries describe an elegant coupe made from a rusted 1939 Studebaker Commander and a delivery-truck project based on a discarded 1934 Desoto Airflow. The same projects appear in the Foxtel listing.
The available official gallery and episode descriptions show the kinds of vehicles and hands-on processes featured. They are not evidence of independent awards, road legality, or the authenticity of every scene in the finished programs.

By April 2025, the Journal Pioneer described Hiltz and MacIntyre as publishing video independently, with longer daily videos on YouTube and shorter clips on Facebook. The report contrasts this with the television format: episodes condensed a build into a program, while their online videos showed more of the process.
MacIntyre told the newspaper that a daily YouTube video could draw up to 100,000 viewers and that their Facebook following was about 1.6 million. She also reported roughly 70 million combined monthly views across YouTube and Facebook and about $2 million in annual revenue. These are figures attributed to MacIntyre in the April 2025 report, not independently audited totals or verified measures of their current performance.
Hiltz described the shift in a quote to the Journal Pioneer: “We’ve turned a TV proposition into a multi-million-dollar YouTube channel.” MacIntyre told the paper, “It’s very raw and authentic, and I feel like that is our competitive advantage over other YouTube channels.”
