NYT Connections puzzle No. 719 was published Friday, May 30, 2025. Start with the spoiler-light clues below; the category names and full word sets are farther down.
Hints for Connections No. 719
The board has four groups of four. These nudges point toward each connection without giving away the category labels:
- One group contains objects that can be used as rods or clubs.
- For another, take “on a roll” literally.
- Think of items often given away or sold as promotional merchandise.
- Complete each word with “shack.”
The four category answers
- Yellow: RODS
- Green: THEY’RE ON A ROLL!
- Blue: COMMON SWAG ITEMS
- Purple: WORDS BEFORE “SHACK”
All 16 answers
Here are the complete sets, grouped by their intended connection:
- Yellow — RODS: BAT, CLUB, STAFF, STICK
- Green — THEY’RE ON A ROLL!: FOIL, TAPE, RIBBON, TOILET PAPER
- Blue — COMMON SWAG ITEMS: HAT, TEE, TOTE, WATER BOTTLE
- Purple — WORDS BEFORE “SHACK”: CADDY, LOVE, RADIO, SHAKE
Why the tricky sets fit
“On a roll” is literal
Foil, tape, ribbon and toilet paper are commonly found in rolls. The category turns the familiar phrase into a physical description.

Each purple word completes “shack”
The combinations are caddy shack, love shack, radio shack and shake shack. The puzzle asks for words that come before the shared word, rather than for four kinds of building.
