Hints for Connections #866
Each hint points to a category without giving away its full set of words.
- Yellow: Peak times or a person’s or thing’s best years.
- Green: Formatting options or actions you can apply to text.
- Blue: Things known for being colorful.
- Purple: Look for something useful embedded at the end of each word.
A sensible way to solve the board
One straightforward route is to find the four text-formatting actions first. Then group the words that mean a peak period, followed by the colorful things. The remaining four entries reveal the purple pattern: each ends with the name of an accessory. This is one valid solve path, not a required order.

| Color | Category | Words |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Best years | HEYDAY, PINNACLE, PRIME, ZENITH |
| Green | Things you can do to text | BOLD, HIGHLIGHT, STRIKETHROUGH, UNDERLINE |
| Blue | Things known for being colorful | KALEIDOSCOPE, PEACOCK, RAINBOW, SUNSET |
| Purple | Ending in accessories | BAYWATCH, COOTIE, HERRING, KINGPIN |
Why the purple group works
The accessory is at the end of each full word: BAYWATCH ends in WATCH, COOTIE in TIE, HERRING in EARRING, and KINGPIN in PIN. The endings are embedded in the words rather than appearing as separate entries.
