NYT Connections puzzle #721, for Sunday, June 1, 2025, groups its 16 words into four themes. Start with the spoiler-light nudges below; the full category names and answers are farther down.

Hints for Connections #721

Try these nudges in order. Stop when you have enough help, then scroll to the answer key only if you want the solutions.

  1. A bar you know.
  2. A multi-sport competition.
  3. Something that is in the bag.
  4. A pool of money.

In gentler terms, think of familiar hangouts, a specific competition, ways to secure something fully, and words that can precede a common four-letter finance noun.

How NYT Connections works

The New York Times describes the game this way: “Players are given 16 words and must find groups of four items that share something in common.” Each of the four groups has a color, from Yellow, the easiest, to Purple, the trickiest. Words can appear to fit more than one category, but the game has exactly one solution.
