The board contains 16 words, which sort into four groups of four. These clues move from broad themes to the connections themselves:
- Yellow: Think of verbs meaning to notice or perceive something.
- Green: Look for musical or rhythmic terms.
- Blue: Find one member of a set of twelve.
- Purple: Each word can follow a word associated with a dog.

Why the purple group fits
Add “dog” before each word to make the phrases dog days, dog paddle, dog tag, and dog-tired. The other groups connect by meaning: the yellow words can mean to perceive, the green words relate to cadence or rhythm, and the blue words are examples of one item in a group of twelve.
