How Connections works
Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on shared themes. The New York Times assigns colors to the groups, from yellow as easiest to purple as trickiest. Its Help Center notes that words can appear to fit more than one category, but each puzzle has one solution. NYT Connections Help Center
The daily puzzle releases at midnight in each player’s timezone, so a puzzle number is useful alongside a date when referring to a particular day’s game. The #808 answers above are for August 27, 2025—not the current daily puzzle.
