Kate Haralson said Raya revoked her membership after she posted a TikTok clip of an alleged FaceTime call with Matthew Perry. The 2021 reports linked the reported removal to the clip, but Raya did not publicly give a case-specific explanation in the cited coverage. Its quoted rules were general standards about respect, trust and privacy.
What happened between Kate Haralson and Matthew Perry?
Haralson told reporters she matched with Perry on Raya in May 2020, when she was 19. She later posted a short TikTok clip showing what she described as a FaceTime call between them. In the clip, they played “20 Questions.” The Los Angeles Times described the call as alleged and said it had not independently corroborated the users’ accounts. Los Angeles Times
Haralson said the age difference made her uneasy. She alleged that Perry asked whether he was as old as her father; that detail comes from her account and was not independently established in the reporting. Los Angeles Times The Independent
Why was she reportedly removed from Raya?
Haralson said her Raya membership was revoked after the video attracted attention. The Los Angeles Times connected the reported removal to her confirmation, but neither that report nor the other cited coverage established an official, case-specific explanation from Raya. The Times also reported that representatives for Perry and Raya did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Los Angeles Times Fox News

There are plenty of places across the internet where an expectation of behavioral standards and respect for other users isn’t required.” This was policy language reported in 2021, not a statement from Raya explaining Haralson’s individual case.
