After moving from Byron Bay in New South Wales to Western Australia, TikTok creator Tahlia shared a personal list of what she enjoys about Perth and what she is still weighing up. A PerthNow report published May 31, 2024 describes two videos covering her impressions. They are one newcomer’s perspective, not a representative review of Perth.
What Tahlia likes about Perth
PerthNow reported that Tahlia praised the local breweries, saying they “slap” and that she found more variety than on the east coast. That is her impression, rather than a measured comparison of brewery offerings.
She also liked the roads, saying there were not many potholes, and called the city’s randomly placed sculptures cute. As a Labrador lover, she enjoyed Perth’s dog scene and dog beaches.
Her other positives were fashion markets around Fremantle or the city, and social life spread across suburbs such as Fremantle and Scarborough instead of being concentrated in the central city.

What she is unsure about
Popular sunset outings
Tahlia was unsure about Perth’s popular sunset gatherings. PerthNow reported her saying, “I think I’m a sunrise girl,” reflecting her preference for the quieter feel she associated with sunrise.
A small-feeling social scene
She described Perth as small, with people sharing mutual friends and having dated one another. She also saw a benefit: in her view, it could be easier to meet people. These are her reported impressions, not a broader finding about Perth residents.

Friendships around FIFO rotations
Tahlia said that FIFO work rotations can make friendship difficult when people leave every two weeks. This was her anecdote; the report does not establish how common that experience is.
Walks and runs as catch-ups
She questioned the popularity of walking or running to catch up. Tahlia said, “I would rather sit on the beach or go get a coffee,” while also appreciating that people are fit.

What the report says about the videos
PerthNow identified Tahlia as a TikTok creator who had recently moved from Byron Bay to Western Australia. Its May 31, 2024 report said the two videos had reached more than 12,000 viewers and that she had 68 followers when she posted them. Those figures are the report’s account of the videos at that time; the original TikTok posts and analytics were not independently verified, so they should not be read as current totals.
