If you’re looking for the best movies on Sky Cinema and NOW, this is a curated set of recommendations—not a ranked list or a promise that every film is still available. It brings together a standout 2025 Sky Cinema pick, titles Sky announced for that year, and films surfaced in Sky and NOW catalogue listings. Because the services rotate their collections, check the live listing for a film before you settle in to watch.
How to use this guide
“Best” here means films worth considering for their appeal, genre, release era, or the mood you’re in. It does not mean that the titles were scored against one another or tested for this article. Availability is a separate question: a film may have been recommended or announced for 2025 without being available now.
NOW is an online route to Sky Cinema through its Cinema membership. Its catalogue is regularly updated, and category pages can show expiry dates. Use NOW or Sky’s current listings to confirm a title and any availability information before watching.
A standout film from the 2025 recommendations
Oppenheimer — historical drama with big questions
Stuff’s 2025 guide singled out Christopher Nolan’s film about physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his work on the Manhattan Project as a major Sky Cinema arrival. The guide describes it as thought-provoking and emotionally engaging—an editorial recommendation, not a measured rating. It’s a strong choice if you want a substantial historical drama rather than a light, quick watch. Read Stuff’s 2025 selection.

Movies Sky announced for Sky Cinema in 2025

- Cleaner: an action-thriller, for viewers looking for tension and momentum.
- Sneaks: an animated film, for a lighter, family-oriented option. Check current age ratings and advisories before choosing a film for children.

Choosing what to watch
- Pick a mood first: try the crime-and-thriller listings for suspense, the Family category for animation and family films, or a title such as Oppenheimer if you want historical drama.
- Decide between new and familiar: the announced 2025 titles and newer catalogue examples offer a different starting point from established films such as The Shawshank Redemption or Ocean’s Eleven.
- Check suitability: confirm the film’s current rating and advisory information instead of relying on a broad genre label when choosing for children or a particular group.
- Verify availability: search the live NOW or Sky catalogue for the exact title, and check any expiry date shown on its listing.
