Their separation was reported in February 2022. A source told Marie Claire that distance made the relationship difficult, but neither Dawson nor Booker publicly confirmed that as the reason.
How Rosario Dawson and Cory Booker met and began dating
Vanity Fair reported that Dawson and Booker first met through a mutual friend at a political fundraiser in summer 2018. They reportedly began dating after crossing paths again in December. Another account identifies the event as a fundraiser for Ben Jealous, then a candidate for Maryland governor. These details come from retrospective accounts, rather than a shared timeline published by the couple. Vanity Fair’s account and Oprah Daily’s timeline describe the early chronology.
Booker later recalled asking for Dawson’s number after they talked for hours. In a 2019 interview with The Washington Post, as quoted by Vanity Fair, he said: “I mean, gosh, that night we talked for hours and hours. I had trouble asking for her phone number…”
When they confirmed the relationship publicly
In February 2019, Booker acknowledged in a radio interview that there was someone special in his life. Dawson confirmed they were dating to TMZ in March. Their public comments and interviews conveyed affection and respect, rather than leaving the relationship as speculation. Oprah Daily’s timeline recaps the confirmation.
