Macaulay Culkin has publicly described Paris Jackson as someone he loves and feels protective of. Their bond, as documented in interviews, includes a godfather’s support, shared jokes and advice about acting—but the available accounts do not reveal the details of their private life today.
How Culkin described his bond with Paris Jackson
In a January 2018 interview, Culkin said Jackson was “beloved by me” and that he was “very protective of her.” His words offer a direct description of his affection, rather than speculation about what their relationship might be. Entertainment Tonight reported the comments after his appearance on WTF with Marc Maron.
He also made clear that he would not discuss her private life in detail: “I’m just letting you know if we want to start going down that road it’s going to be a dead end, but I mean that in the fact that I love her so much.” The boundary was framed as protection and affection, not as a sign of conflict.
Shared jokes and advice about being in public
A January 2020 Esquire profile described the pair as remaining close and recounted a playful shared ritual: they exchanged spoons and got matching spoon tattoos on their inner forearms. Culkin characterized the spoon exchange as a harmless joke.

How Culkin advised Jackson on an acting audition
Jackson later described turning to Culkin for advice before auditioning for American Horror Stories. In a July 2021 ABC News / Good Morning America interview, she said he told her to “overdo it at certain points”—to “overact and kind of make it theatrical.” She said she felt comfortable discussing the part with him because he was in the franchise.
Rank #2
This is a concrete example of practical encouragement: Jackson asked for input on a specific career opportunity, and Culkin offered advice tied to the performance. It supports the picture of a trusted godfather, without establishing how often they discuss work or how they stay in touch.

Together, Culkin’s remarks in 2018, Esquire’s 2020 account and Jackson’s 2021 recollection document affection, playful shared details and career advice. They do not provide a day-to-day account of the relationship or independently verify its current state as of October 2026. “Remain close,” as reported in the 2020 profile, describes that account at the time; it should not be treated as a fresh update about their private contact.
