The pilot of Everybody Loves Raymond used different names for Ray and Debra’s twin sons: Matthew and Gregory. In the series, the characters became Michael and Geoffrey, played by Sullivan and Sawyer Sweeten. Madylin Sweeten played their on-screen sister, Ally. The available sources do not identify the pilot twins’ performers or establish the exact episode in which the Sweeten brothers first appeared.
Who played the twins in the pilot?
The Television Academy’s show profile for Everybody Loves Raymond says the twins were originally named Matthew and Gregory in the pilot. It does not identify the actors who played them there. So the careful answer is that Sullivan and Sawyer Sweeten were not the documented pilot performers; the sources available here do not establish who those performers were.

Who were the Sweeten boys in the series?
Madylin Sweeten played Ally Barone, Ray and Debra’s daughter. CBS News identifies her twin brothers, Sullivan and Sawyer Sweeten, as the Sweeten children on the show. In the subsequent series, they played the twin sons, whose names were Michael and Geoffrey.
The character-name change is confirmed by the Television Academy. A CBS Entertainment press release about the ninth-season premiere also identifies Ally alongside the twin sons Michael and Geoffrey, reflecting the later-series setup.

When did Sullivan and Sawyer first appear?
The sources cited here do not establish the exact episode in which Sullivan and Sawyer first appeared. They support the distinction between the pilot’s Matthew and Gregory and the later series’ Michael and Geoffrey, but they do not provide a verified transition episode. Without an episode-specific source, naming one—or claiming the brothers were absent from every early episode—would go beyond what is documented.
