What changed in the December 2024 schedule shuffle?
On December 27, 2024, Warner Bros. moved the Batman sequel from October 2, 2026 to October 1, 2027. In the same reshuffle, Mickey 17 moved forward from April 18, 2025 to March 7, 2025, exchanging dates with Sinners, which shifted to April 18. TheWrap reported that the earlier slot gave Mickey 17 more time on IMAX and other premium large-format screens. TheWrap’s December 27, 2024 report
That is the context behind the original headline: it described a 2024 announcement, not the films’ current status. The Batman sequel was later delayed again, while Mickey 17’s theatrical release has already taken place.

The Batman Part II is scheduled for February 18, 2028. TheWrap reported on July 15, 2026 that the film had moved from October 1, 2027, citing director Matt Reeves’ social post and teaser. TheWrap’s July 15, 2026 report
