For the season’s biggest story payoff, start with the five-part “Green with Evil” arc; for a shorter watch, choose a character-focused or monster-of-the-week episode. This ranking weighs story impact, character development, memorable action or monster premises, and how well an episode works without much setup. It treats multipart stories as arcs, rather than ranking each chapter separately.
Spoiler note: The entries below mention key plot developments.
How to use this ranking
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 1 premiered on August 28, 1993. Rotten Tomatoes’ season guide has 60 episode entries, though platforms can group or number multipart stories differently. Check the episode titles in your chosen viewing edition rather than relying on a universal numbering scheme. Rotten Tomatoes’ season guide provides episode descriptions.
The ranking below puts narrative consequence first, then character focus and entertainment value. Because a multi-part story needs its chapters to build on one another, “Green with Evil” is ranked as one arc. The remaining selections are individual episodes or stories, and include stronger standalone options.

Ranked episodes and arcs
1. “Green with Evil” (five-part arc)
This is the season’s essential story: Rita Repulsa turns Tommy Oliver into the evil Green Ranger, setting up a threat that tests the team from within. Its serialized structure gives the conflict room to escalate, making the full arc more satisfying than a single chapter watched out of context. It is the clearest choice for viewers who want the season’s most consequential storyline.
IMDb’s season-one list displayed user ratings of 8.4/10 for “Green with Evil: Part IV” and 8.5/10 for “Green with Evil: Part V” when accessed in 2026. Those are changeable audience ratings, not critic scores or proof of an objective ranking. IMDb’s season-one episode list shows the displayed ratings.
Rank #2
- Authentic: The figure has multiple points of articulation and designed to look just like Jason Scott from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show
- Morph Power: Press down on the figure's back lever and watch him morph from Jason into the iconic Red Ranger
- Accessories: The Auto-Morphin Red Ranger comes with his signature Power Sword and the Blade Blaster, in both Blade and Blaster form
- Classic: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition is a new and improved release of the classic 1993 brand for today's kids
- Collect Them All: Collect all of your favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Playmates Toys
2. “The Green Candle”
The Green Ranger’s story continues as Rita tries to capture him and drain his powers with a magic candle. This is a strong follow-up for anyone invested in the arc: the threat is personal, and the episode makes the cost of Tommy’s connection to the Rangers concrete. It works best after “Green with Evil,” not as a first taste of the series.
3. “Doomsday”
Rita brings her palace to Angel Grove, forcing the Rangers into a fight to rescue the city’s citizens. The larger-than-usual threat gives this story an event-like scale and makes it a good pick for viewers looking for action and stakes rather than a character introduction. Its premise is easy to grasp even if you have not followed every earlier monster encounter.
Rank #3

- POWER RANGERS ACTION FIGURES INSPIRED BY DINO FURY: A group of kids from Pine Ridge (and the planet Rafkon!) power up to protect the world from evil
- INCLUDES CHARACTER-INSPIRED ACCESSORIES: Morph into battle mode with these Dino Fury action figures, which include 7 character-inspired accessories for ultimate battles and adventures

- COLLECT OTHER POWER RANGERS DINO FURY ACTION FIGURES AND SETS: Be on the lookout for other Power Rangers Dino Fury action figures and sets (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)
4. “Return of an Old Friend”
Rita demands the Power Coins, and the Rangers turn to Tommy for help. That premise links the team’s survival to the Green Ranger storyline, making this a worthwhile later stop for viewers following the season’s ongoing conflicts. It is less newcomer-friendly than a standalone monster story because the appeal depends on knowing who Tommy is and why the Rangers’ powers matter.
Which episodes should you watch first?
If you want the season’s main continuity, watch “Green with Evil” in order, then continue to “The Green Candle” and “Return of an Old Friend.” For a shorter sample, “Doomsday” offers a large-scale threat without requiring the same investment in Tommy’s storyline. The episode descriptions and titles in the viewing edition you use are the safest guide for locating these stories, since the 60-entry Rotten Tomatoes list does not establish a numbering standard shared by every distributor.

Standalone stories versus essential viewing
The season mixes serialized arcs with character and monster stories that do not require the same amount of preparation. A newcomer can choose a standalone episode for a quick sense of the show’s action-and-monster format; viewers who want the season’s ongoing character stakes should prioritize the Green Ranger episodes. The ranking favors story importance, but that does not make standalone episodes disposable: they offer a lower-commitment way to sample the series.
