What Danielle said she did involving Dina
In a 2009 account reproduced by Starcasm, Staub said she passed her phone number to Dina’s ex-brother-in-law after he asked her for it. The report said the details were not fully settled. It also described child protective services and custody as a “general consensus”—a signal that this was conjecture, not a confirmed account of Staub trying to remove Dina’s daughter from the show or change custody.
That distinction matters: the report supports the narrower phone-number account attributed to Staub, but does not establish the more serious custody allegation as fact.
The allegation is separate from the table-flip scene
The famous Season 1 restaurant confrontation was about Cop Without a Badge, the book discussed by the cast. Teresa Giudice flipped the table; that was Teresa’s action, not something Danielle did to Dina or Caroline. ABC News’ June 17, 2009 report covered the finale confrontation. Asked about Teresa’s temper, Dina said, “All of us Italians maybe have it somewhere.”

Dina confronted Danielle and later left RHONJ
Dina later met with Danielle to end their relationship on the show. In a 2014 retrospective, Bravo said the aftermath of that encounter contributed to Dina’s decision to leave The Real Housewives of New Jersey. This describes the televised conflict and its consequences; it does not independently prove the disputed custody explanation.
What can—and cannot—be said about Caroline
Caroline Manzo was involved in the broader cast conflict, but the reviewed accounts do not identify a distinct act Staub directly did to Caroline that explains the sisters’ estrangement. In a 2011 CBS News report, Dina described her strained relationship with Caroline as tied to private family matters she did not want to detail. The available account therefore does not support treating Staub as the sole cause of the sisters’ rift.

In a 2010 interview with TV Guide, Staub described her approach this way: “You want to call it button-pushing, call it button-pushing, but I call it speaking the truth and having people to react to it.” That is Staub’s characterization of her conduct, not a neutral finding about what happened in the Dina dispute.
