Backyard Racing’s Hot Wheels backyard aquapark is a large DIY course built from orange track, homemade structures and water features. It starts at roof level, sends a car through a waterslide and water transitions, and uses two different lift mechanisms—including a water-powered bucket lift the creator describes as raising the car 12 feet. The reported build also uses 12 sump pumps and hundreds of gallons of water.
What the Hot Wheels aquapark is
This is not a single retail playset. It is an elaborate residential-backyard construction by Backyard Racing, combining standard orange Hot Wheels track with homemade additions and materials. Supercar Blondie’s 2026 account describes the house as part of the route, which begins on the roof and drops through track and custom-built sections. Supercar Blondie’s report presents the build as a backyard aquapark rather than a conventional tabletop course.
How the route and lifts work
From roof to water features
The reported route starts on the roof, then follows orange track and homemade sections, including a popsicle-stick bridge, drilled pipes, rain gutters and hoses. It continues through a tube waterslide, a pool and an orange bucket transition. These details are reported by Supercar Blondie; the reviewed account does not provide independent inspection or testing of the construction.
Two different ways to lift the car
The course includes two distinct upward-return mechanisms. One is a magnet-assisted pulley that brings the car back up. Another is a water-powered bucket lift: water raises a bucket carrying the car, and the bucket tips it back onto the track. Supercar Blondie describes that lift as raising the car nearly 12 feet; Backyard Racing’s description, reproduced by GeekTyrant, says the car gets lifted “up 12ft in a water bucket.” The figure is therefore a creator-reported height, not an independently verified measurement. GeekTyrant reproduces Backyard Racing’s description.
#1 Best Overall
- Dip into the Hot Wheels City Ultra Shark Car Wash for interactive, color-shifting play in a location featured in the Netflix series, 'Let's Race!'
- The car wash-themed playset features realistic car wash details like a foam roller and movable gates for inspired storytelling.
- Kids drive into the shark's mouth and press down on its head to initiate the first reveal. The water changes color as the special Color Reveal paint washes away, exposing the car's sweet deco!
- Lift the shark and watch the car race down the track through its insides. An opening on the underbelly allows kids to see the car's progress.
- Fill the next tank with icy cold water and dunk the car in it to change the deco again. Change it back by filling the first tank with very warm water and driving through again.
The scale of the build
Backyard Racing describes the project as the “world’s FIRST Hot Wheels backyard aquapark track.” Its quoted materials list includes 12 sump pumps, hundreds of gallons of water, wood, ladders, clear tubes, gutters, string, magnets, plastic tubs, zip-ties, Jenga blocks and Hot Wheels products. These are details from the creator’s description as reproduced by GeekTyrant, not an audited inventory. Supercar Blondie likewise reports 12 sump pumps moving hundreds of gallons through the layout.
The pumps and water are functional parts of the concept, not merely decoration: the water moves through the course and powers the bucket lift. The available accounts do not identify pump models or provide construction plans, flow rates or operating instructions, so they are not a basis for treating the project as a ready-to-copy build guide.

- Use epic stunting skills to win in the Hot Wheels City Shark Chomp Beach Playset.
- Featuring a giant shark nemesis, kids launch their Hot Wheels cars into its mouth, perform a figure-8 stunt that knocks it out, and send the Hot Wheels hero off for more adventures. There's also a stop-sign diverter to keep cars from speeding off.
- The shark chomps down and eats the car if it's launched too softly.
- Reset is easy: pull the shark's head up or open its mouth to race again!
- The launcher pivots for another way to play! Launch the car over the gap jump to avoid the shark entirely.
Could a retail track set recreate it?
No cited product is presented as a kit for recreating the aquapark, its water circulation or its lifts. Mattel’s official page lists the Hot Wheels Track Builder Unlimited Fold Up Track Pack (GLC91), released in 2020, with 12 feet of straight track, five hinge connectors and additional basic track connectors. It is a bounded option for making a smaller custom layout, not an equivalent to Backyard Racing’s house-scale water course. Mattel’s product page for GLC91 does not establish current stock or price, so check availability and compatibility before buying.
