That is box-office revenue—not Jackie Chan’s salary, profit share or personal earnings. The available box-office records do not establish how much he was paid for each film.

What the figures say about his biggest box-office hits

The Kung Fu Panda films lead this selection

The three listed Kung Fu Panda films occupy the top three places. The 2011 sequel, in which Chan voiced Monkey, has the highest reported total at $664,837,547. The 2008 original follows at $632,203,486, while the 2016 third film stands at $520,189,225. The figures are individual film grosses, not a franchise total. The Karate Kid and Rush Hour 2 are close in the ranking

The Karate Kid (2010), with Chan as Mr. Han, reported $351,774,938 worldwide. Rush Hour 2 (2001) is just below it at $347,425,832. For Rush Hour 2, The Numbers lists $226,164,286 domestic and $121,261,546 international, a reminder that the worldwide total combines receipts from different territories. All three Rush Hour films passed $245 million

The original Rush Hour reported $245,300,000 worldwide, followed by $256,585,882 for Rush Hour 3. Rush Hour 2 leads the trilogy in this dataset. (The Numbers: Rush Hour franchise)

Earlier Hong Kong and U.S. milestones

Chan’s commercial reach predates the Hollywood and animated hits in the ranking. The Hong Kong Film Archive says The Young Master (1980) earned over HK$10 million and broke local box-office records. It reports that Police Story (1985) exceeded HK$20 million. The Archive also notes that Rumble in the Bronx received a nationwide U.S. release in 1996 and grossed over US$30 million there, preceding Chan’s entry into Hollywood productions such as the Rush Hour series. These are milestones reported in different currencies and territories, so they should not be ranked directly against the worldwide totals above. (Hong Kong Film Archive: Jackie Chan profile)

Box-office gross is not Jackie Chan’s take-home pay

A theatrical gross is the money collected from ticket sales across a film’s reported releases. It is not the same as the studio’s profit, and it does not reveal how much an actor earned. Production and marketing costs, distribution arrangements and participant deals affect what a film or an individual ultimately receives. The cited box-office records do not provide Chan’s title-by-title salary or profit participation, so the grosses cannot establish his personal earnings.
