Kensington Palace marked Prince George’s 11th birthday on 22 July 2024 by releasing a black-and-white portrait taken by his mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales. The image shows George smiling in a white shirt and dark blazer.
What the birthday portrait shows
George is pictured smiling, wearing an open-necked white shirt and a dark blazer. A friendship bracelet is visible on his left wrist. Reports said the photograph was taken in Windsor earlier in July 2024.
Kensington Palace did not identify who gave him the bracelet, so its giver is not established. The released details describe the image; they do not explain any private meaning behind it.
When the photo was released
The portrait was published on George’s actual birthday, 22 July 2024. Kensington Palace’s caption, reported by ABC News, read: “Wishing Prince George a very happy 11th birthday today!”
