New Girl ran for seven seasons, from 2011 to 2018, with Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr. at the center of its ensemble. Here is what the available information establishes about the cast, the rewatch podcast hosted by two of its stars, and the recent revival speculation.
Who was in the principal cast of New Girl?
The series followed Jessica Day and her roommates and friends over seven seasons. Its principal ensemble included:
- Zooey Deschanel as Jessica Day
- Jake Johnson as Nick Miller
- Lamorne Morris as Winston Bishop
- Max Greenfield as Schmidt
- Hannah Simone as Cece Parekh
- Damon Wayans Jr. as Coach
The series ran from 2011 to 2018. [c001]
What is the cast doing now?
The available sources establish the ensemble and provide a few cast-linked updates, but they do not support a reliable, current career summary for each actor. They do not establish the latest projects for Deschanel, Johnson, Morris, Greenfield, Simone or Wayans Jr. A project-by-project update would require current confirmation from official biographies, production announcements or direct interviews; older retrospectives alone are not enough.

Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris
A 2023 retrospective reported that Deschanel, Simone and Morris launched Welcome to Our Show in 2022. That historical report does not establish whether the podcast remains active. [c006]
Is a New Girl revival happening?
No confirmed revival is established by the available reporting. In 2026, comments attributed to Max Greenfield about having seen scripts prompted reports that a revival was underway. Subsequent coverage attributed a denial—“There are no scripts”—to creator Liz Meriwether. Another report said the cast gathering discussed in that coverage referred to an October charity event, not a confirmed revival. These accounts are reporting, not a direct transcript or original interview, so they should be treated as time-sensitive rather than proof of production. [c002] [c004]
