The film made the sleek car famous, but the documented history of the M4S is distinct from the movie’s fictional story.
What car was the Turbo Interceptor in The Wraith?
It was the Dodge M4S, a one-off concept car that became closely associated with the 1986 film The Wraith. PPG Pace Cars’ specialist history identifies the M4S as the 1986 PPG pace car and says Charlie Sheen drove it in the film. The page does not provide a primary film-production account of the car’s use, so those details are best understood as the history reported by that catalog, not a complete production record. How the Dodge M4S was built
PPG Pace Cars credits Dodge designer Bob Ackerman with the M4S design, with PPG sponsorship. It says construction involved Michigan Specialized Vehicles Inc., 3-D Industries Inc., and Special Projects. These production-history details come from the site’s unofficial catalog rather than manufacturer documentation.
Reported layout and engine
The same catalog describes a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive car powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine. It reports two Garrett T25 turbochargers and a Cosworth-tuned double-overhead-camshaft, 16-valve cylinder head.

Why the car is remembered as the Turbo Interceptor
The M4S’s concept-car identity and its screen identity overlap, but they are not interchangeable: the Dodge M4S was the real car, while the Turbo Interceptor is the name associated with it in The Wraith. The available specialist history connects the two, but does not establish how many cars or replicas were used during production. It also does not establish the M4S’s present location.
