The Sims Spark’d was a four-episode reality competition announced by Electronic Arts in July 2020. Contestants used The Sims 4 to create characters, worlds and stories in timed challenges, with elimination rounds deciding who would advance. EA announced a $100,000 prize.
What was The Sims Spark’d?
EA developed the series with Turner Sports’ gaming brand ELEAGUE and BuzzFeed Multiplayer. Its premise turned the open-ended creativity of The Sims 4 into a contest: players had to make distinctive creations and communicate stories under challenge constraints. EA’s announcement described both creative tasks and timed skills and elimination challenges.

Lyndsay Pearson, then general manager of The Sims franchise, said the series drew on the game’s tradition of letting players create and virtually live out stories. The competition’s focus was therefore not simply on building an impressive lot or character, but on using the game’s creative tools to make a story others could follow.

What were contestants asked to do?
Contestants worked in The Sims 4 to create characters, worlds and stories in a sequence of creative competitions. The format paired open-ended storytelling with timed skills tests and elimination rounds, putting pressure on players to turn an idea into a finished in-game creation within the challenge.
The series was presented as a test of both imagination and execution: contestants had to make choices that served the story while working within the game and the time limit. EA’s announcement described the challenge categories, but does not provide a full episode-by-episode breakdown.

How was the Spark’d Challenge Program different?
EA also introduced an in-game Spark’d Challenge Program, but it was separate from the televised competition. That program invited players to submit creations and participate through community challenges and voting. Under its official rules and FAQ, selected Top Spark’d Creators could be included in a pool to interview for a future season. That was a possibility, not confirmation that another television season was made.
